Heritage Ontario Trust
The Ontario Heritage Trust is a non-profit agency of the Ontario Ministry of Culture responsible for preserving and promoting examples of the province's historic and cultural heritage. It was created in 1968 as the Ontario Heritage Foundation by the Progressive Conservative government of John Robarts. The name was changed in 2005 by an amendment to the Ontario Heritage Act. The trust's current chairman is former Lieutenant-Governor, Lincoln Alexander. The foundation/trust is most commonly associated with the historic plaques it erects at places of historic interest. It also owns a number of historic buildings outright.
